how it works

Pretty Props offers a unique way for set designers in NYC to rent prop furniture directly from our online service which allows convenient and precise shopping. Browsing and securing orders anytime (even after hours when other prop houses have already closed) is one important plus. We show an availability calendar for each piece and detailed descriptive photos to make choices quickly and efficiently. To place a hold, just email us a request with your dates and when/if you're ready to confirm your online order, contact us first and we can take the hold off our calendar system. No refunds are possible. All orders are based on an "as is" agreement. We will do our best to describe any particulars about the piece and to ensure the photos represent a true depiction of every piece. All pickups and returns should be scheduled between 9am-5:30pm M-F.

All pieces will come individually in our moving blankets, shrink wrap, and sometime foam tubes for furniture leg's protection. We ask that upon return, every piece is carefully covered with it’s original packing materials (perhaps your assistant can take pictures that will help identify what goes with what) By taking such diligent care of these prop pieces, we believe everyone benefits from this attitude. We appreciate your conscientious efforts and look forward to offering you a fresh approach to set design.

logistics of rental:

Step 1 There’s no annoying pre-registration…just start shopping!

Check availability from the calendar for each piece and add your selections to the shopping cart. All prices are non-negotiable to maintain consistency and are based on a one week rental (7 days including weekends) All pickups and returns should be scheduled between 9am-5:30pm M-F.

We need 24 hours to prepare your order. If you need to pick up same day, you will need to "trick the system" by ordering it for the following business day and call us to let us know you need it the same day.

Extensions are possible based on availability and mutual consent with Pretty Props. It will be automatically prorated which is cheaper than re-renting

Step 2Once you’re ready to process your order, we need to know specific information about the shoot (your delivery carrier, company/client, studio, photographer etc.) Every client is asked to commit to all the terms and conditions of our rental agreement by checking the box (this represents a legal consent).

Please read through all of the agreement so there is no misunderstanding about our policy. (there’s no tricky fine writing but we do want everyone to be clear.) Due to the delicate nature of the upholstery (silks, silk velvets, satins and wools) we ask that no body oils or makeup come into contact as they do not clean up well. so please keep your hawkeyes on it!)

Please note a security deposit is only a percentage of the replacement value.
